What We Treat
-
We offer physical therapy during pregnancy to help treat symptoms and to help you stay active as you prepare for childbirth. Some of the conditions that we frequently see in pregnant patients include;
Lower back pain
Pelvic pain
Pubic symphysis pain
Pelvic pressure/heaviness
Hip pain
We are skilled at meeting pregnant patients where they are at and providing appropriate exercise progressions for all pregnant patients.
-
We offer physical therapy postpartum to help you return to the activities you love. These sessions usually focus on lifting mechanics, sitting posture for feeding and carrying mechanics. We also screen for other common postpartum symptoms such as urinary incontinence, prolapse and diastasis recti.
-
The most common pelvic floor physical therapy conditions that we treat include;
Urinary incontinence (stress and/or urge)
Urinary frequency
Pelvic organ prolapse
Diastasis recti
Pain with intercourse
Whether you are 6 weeks or 6 years postpartum, it is never to late to be seen for an evaluation of the above symptoms. We will complete a thorough assessment at the initial appointment and discuss our recommended plan of care.
-
We know that recovery following a c-section is different than after a vaginal birth. We offer pelvic health physical therapy assessments following a cesarean birth to assess posture, core strength, scar mobility and lifting mechanics. We perform and teach scar massage to help with c-section scar recovery as needed and provide gradual core strengthening exercises to help you feel and become stronger.
